Job Title: e-Commerce Accounting Manager

Working Hours: EST

Job Overview:

As the Accounting Manager, you will be the first member of our accounting team responsible for bringing our current accounting operations in house, establishing best practices, ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, reports, and analyses for management and investors, and building the accounting team.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in accounting, exceptional leadership skills, and a dedication to upholding financial best practices. You will play a critical role in maintaining our financial records and implementing effective accounting processes and controls – from bringing bookkeeping and month-end close in-house, through to managing multiple brands in a consolidated portfolio of entities. Analyzing and optimizing financial performance is a passion and you are excited about joining a fast growing company.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS) for use in board reporting and investor relations and fundraising.
  • Conduct financial analysis, identifying trends, and providing insights to support strategic decision-making by the management team.
  • Establish and maintain 13 week cashflow statements for a portfolio of consumer brands, taking into account sales forecasts, inventory payment timing, etc. 
  • Support financial due diligence on Company’s acquisitions targets including recasting target company financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Perform bookkeeping, general ledger maintenance, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closings.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all financial records and transactions including inventory accounting.
  • Collaborate with relevant departments to develop budgets and forecasts, monitoring actual performance against projections. 
  • Establish internal processes and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices and customer payments.
  • Review and authorize large payments and resolve any payment discrepancies or issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and tax laws.
  • Continuously assess accounting processes and systems, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements and automation.
  • Implement best practices and standardized procedures to enhance the overall accounting function.






Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA, CA or Masters designation is preferred.
  • Proven experience as an Accounting or Finance Manager or a similar managerial role in accounting with inventory accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
  • Experience using QuickBooks or other ERP systems (e.g. Sage, Xero, NetSuite)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with acute attention to detail. 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop accounting teams effectively.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
