Key Responsibilities:


  • Innovation: Develop creative ways to assist the Content Development team, including leading training, scheduling projects, assisting writers, freelancers, and project managers, and answering questions in a specific area of expertise. Create research-based factual content and unique marketing points aligned with the latest SEO practices and the client’s vision for their website.

  • Results: Ensure that everyone produces creative and unique copy that forms the foundation of the website’s organic performance.

  • Care: Ensure all content is grammatically correct, factually accurate, and meets in-house standards to satisfy client expectations and facilitate a smooth launch process.

  • Efficiency: Meet deadlines and maintain a high attention to detail to ensure the client’s website launches on time. Assist writers and other internal teams by answering questions efficiently, leading training, and supporting the Director.

  • Experience: Explain and utilize style, SEO, and grammar best practices to produce high-quality web content for various clients. Have at least one year of experience working in a writing capacity at Scorpion.

  • Work closely with the Director of Content Development to stay updated on new developments at Scorpion and with SEO best practices. Ensure these developments are communicated to the team.

  • Answer questions regarding your expertise, ensure projects are on schedule, and assign writers to meet deadlines. Understand and adhere to information provided by project management and SEO teams. Communicate any discrepancies and best practices to freelancers, writers, and internal teams.

  • Research and write new pages as per instructions, edit current client content and freelancer-produced pages. Ensure all content is unique, follows best practices, is error-free, and adheres to SEO best practices and the in-house style guide.

  • Upload content onto the website and style it according to in-house best practices.

  • Lead training sessions and ensure all writers are up-to-date with Scorpion style and SEO best practices.

  • Produce unique, factually accurate, grammatically correct, and stylistically polished content. Follow written instructions closely and create quality content that meets the specifications listed in the Content Request.

  • Edit content for factual accuracy, grammatical accuracy, and in-house style standards.

  • Keep up with the latest SEO best practices and seek out continual training and knowledge.

  • Communicate with internal teammates and freelancers both in-person and via email in a timely manner.

  • Adhere to project deadlines.


Success Metrics / Expected Output:

  • All projects/assignments delivered to Scorpion on or ahead of due date
  • No incomplete assignments/projects
  • Proactive and candid communication with Scorpion concerning work schedule, absences, deadline extensions, etc.
  • Minimal to no content escalations from Scorpion management and/or clients

Requirements

  • 1+ year(s) of content development experience or equivalent
  • Personal and/or professional writing portfolio/website
  • Typing speed of 60 wpm or higher
  • Must be able to write and edit at scale
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills, with the ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks throughout the day
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and a willingness to help others do the same, even in tough circumstances
  • Amenable to working the graveyard shift (8 AM - 5 PM PST), with the possibility of transitioning to a day shift after 3 months of tenure.
