You will be expected to work with the Microsoft Fabric suite comprising Data Factory, Synapse Data Warehousing, Power BI (dataflows) and Data Activator. As part of the wider role, you will be interfacing with SharePoint, Teams, Power BI and the M365 Office suite.
Any knowledge or experience of equivalent data engineering tools (such as Azure, Synapse, etc.) or languages (such as Python, JSON, SQL, etc.) would be a benefit but is not a requirement.


This role represents an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of diverse projects and programmes across a range of industries and sectors. You will work as part of the Digital team on a project, collaborating with BI developers and other specialists.


You will be part of the Digital Centre of Excellence community, sharing knowledge and experience with other BI & Data professionals. This is an excellent opportunity to learn from experienced practitioners and further develop your technical skill sets.


You’ll be responsible for:



  • Maintain architecture diagrams and user documentation for any assets that you create.

  • You will be responsible for the overall quality of your work and ensure that it is delivered to time and in line with user requirements.

  • You will establish and maintain a professional network, both within Mace and the wider data engineering community, to keep abreast of new technologies and create opportunities for new and/or repeat work.

  • You will interface with the Mace project team and occasionally stakeholders from other organizations, if working on a joint venture project or directly for a client.

  • Contribute to the development of digital tools, processes and outputs, including interactive BI reports, that support the wider project team and enable better delivery of projects for our clients.

  • Adhere to a structured development lifecycle that includes requirements definition, design, development and testing, user acceptance testing, deployment, handover and post-implementation support.

  • Be able to clearly articulate the pros and cons of structuring data in different ways, and help colleagues and project teams understand the value of well-structured data.

  • Work with Microsoft Fabric and its component parts such as notebooks and pipelines (prior knowledge essential) to develop efficient integration processes and robust data repositories that will underpin daily and periodic reporting activity.

  • Be responsible for the end-to-end development lifecycle of Digital assets on your project, including testing, deployment and handover.

  • Provide support to users and colleagues in relation to production assets.

  • Keep your knowledge of Fabric and other relevant applications up to date by undertaking training and development, independently or as directed.


You’ll need to have:



  • 2+ years of relevant tech stack experience is expected.

  • You hold a Microsoft Associate level certification (or equivalent certification issued by another provider) in your area of specialism, e.g. DP-600 for Microsoft Fabric.

  • Knowledge of good data structure and development processes.

  • Understanding of relational modelling and database design, including lakehouse Medallion architecture.

  • Pre-existing knowledge of data factory and/or dataflow Gen2 as a minimum, experience with Python or PySpark would be an advantage.

  • Experience of working in a software development lifecycle environment.

  • Understanding of ALM and deployment pipelines.
