IT Security Architect (AU Global Education, Hybrid)

Schedule: Monday- Friday (09:00AM to 06:00PM AEDT/AEST)

What are we looking for? 

Skills Required:

• Tertiary Qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or any related field 
• At least 5 years of professional experience in Security Architecture .  
• In depth experience and understanding of security best practices and frameworks, various security tools and technologies.  
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills  'The ability to think like a hacker ("offensive security") to anticipate threats'
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

Nice to Have: 

• Industry experiences working within AU Company 
• Certifications relevant to cloud security, such as AWS, Certified Security - Specialty (SCS) or Microsoft Azure, Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500) 
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation to automate secure cloud infrastructure deployments.

What will you do? 

Our client seeks an experienced Security Architect to enhance its cyber security posture by designing digital defenses across various platforms, including internal products. The role requires autonomy and may involve interactions with geographically dispersed teams across different time zones.

As a key member of a high-performing team, you will drive outcomes that support students' lifelong learning, demonstrating urgency and a commitment to quality. You will also embrace opportunities to learn new technologies and deliver excellent customer service to internal customers and partners.

• Stakeholder Engagement: Work with stakeholders of geographically dispersed business units including Enterprise and Solution Architecture, Business units (Marketing, Sales, Finance etc.) Cyber Defense and IT operations. 

• Security Advocacy: Educate stakeholders on cyber security risks and best practices for system design. This might involve creating security awareness materials and presenting. 

• Security Architecture: Comply with IT Architecture processes, policies, standards and guidelines.  Strong written and verbal communications skills – able to communicate clearly and accurately. Support the uplift of the broader Architecture practice and provide input into the Architecture community of practice. Actively promote Secure Software Engineering approaches. In-depth understanding of security services and best practices offered by leading cloud providers like AWS (IAM, KMS, Security Hub etc.) and Microsoft Azure (Entra AD, Defender for Cloud etc.). You'll be responsible for designing secure cloud deployments leveraging these built-in security features. 

• Application Security: A broad understanding of applications and how to design and apply security controls that are effective, examples include: Identity and Access Management (IAM): Tools like AWS IAM and Azure AD for managing user access and permissions within the cloud environment. Encryption: Techniques like Key Management Services (KMS) rom AWS and Azure Key Vault for encrypting data at rest and in transit. API Security: APIs are a critical component of our environment. You'll need to understand how to secure APIs and prevent unauthorized access or data breaches. 

• Governance: Support the architecture and design governance processes and forums, ensuring decision process is transparent and aligned with Business/Strategic outcomes and security principles. Lead the creation of guardrails, patterns, standards, NFRs and toolkits to drive continuous improvement and to accelerate the delivery of high-quality features
