Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.

As a Robotics Intern, you will perform research related to trends and new practices in robotics industry and work closely with the Project Manager and the Lead Robotics Engineer in analyzing and developing a computer program for a robot unit performing tasks related to mail sorting and logistics operations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct extensive research on robotics capabilities, particularly in manipulation, control, or computer vision
  • Develop innovative techniques and algorithms with the Lead Robotics Engineer to enhance the robot unit's capabilities
  • Assist in documenting the progress of performance related to the development of capabilities of the robot unit.
  • Assist in solving issues/problems related to robot functionality.
  • Assist in creating computer programs to allow the robot to perform specific tasks.
  • Update the Project Manager and Lead Robotics Engineer from time to time regarding safety measures to prevent the robot from causing damage to itself or others when performing its tasks.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate. 

Qualifications to be successful in the role:

  • Currently taking Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or any relevant degree; Open to fresh graduates
  • Basic knowledge of robotics and automation.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java.
  • Experience with CAD software and hardware interfacing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Amenable to render internship hours on-site every day
