Tax Accountant

As a Tax Accountant, your responsibilities will encompass crucial tasks ensuring financial accuracy and compliance. This includes meticulously preparing work papers and reconciling financial statements to the final stage. Additionally, you'll be instrumental in preparing financial statements, income tax returns, and various lodgments for a diverse client base, spanning companies, partnerships, trusts, and individual businesses.

• Accounting degree or a related degree with a major in accounting.
  
• Completed or working towards completion of CA / CPA.
  
• At least 3-4 years of accounting & taxation experiences within New Zealand
  
• Basic understanding of New Zealand and/or taxation legislation, including but not limited to GST, FBT, Companies Act
  
• Ability to be able to identify issues and communicate effectively and efficiently
  
• Experience with MYOB, Xero, Reckon, Quickbooks, Excel
  
• Experience with Reckon APS program (desirable)
  
• Proficient English writing and verbal skills
  
• Excellent communication skills with strong relationship and stakeholder management
  
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise your workload
  
• Collaborative, team player who understands the importance of building strong internal relationships across the wider business.
  
• Ability to meet productivity and turnaround metrics
  

What awaits you in this role?    

• Demonstrate tax knowledge, including the preparation of tax returns, activity statements, and a deep understanding of the latest New Zealand tax rules.
  
• Prepare work papers and reconcile them to the financial statement stage.
  
• Prepare financial statements, income tax returns, and other lodgements for various entities, including companies, partnerships, trusts, and individual businesses.
  
• Assist in general bookkeeping duties.
  
• Support clients in tax planning, GST compliance, and bookkeeping needs.
  
• Participate in business advisory projects, including tasks such as creating budgets, forecasting cashflows, and generating management reports.
  
• Maintain all documentation, including work papers and client files, in accordance with clients' Group compliance requirements.
