STT GDC Philippines is a joint venture between Globe, Ayala, and ST Telemedia Global Data Centre (STT GDC).

Data Center Operations Specialist (M&E)

Data Center Operations Specialist is responsible for the 24x7 onsite operations and monitoring of the critical facilities and other equipment associated with the data center environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Work in rotating shifts to support the data center's 24x7 onsite operations and critical facilities.

  • Perform 24x7 monitoring of Mechanical and Electrical critical facilities equipments (upstream and downstream), Building Management System (BMS) systems and other equipment associated with the datacenter environment including fire safety, plumbing, security and other datacenter customer’s infrastructures..

  • Act as first responders and the Level 1 escalation point for all onsite operational incidents and issues.

  • Respond and perform all remote hands requests within the Operational and Service Level Agreements.

  • Document and update accurately and promptly all relevant activities and requests on the STT GDC Web Portal ticketing system (user requests, incidents, change, problems, provisioning, etc.).

  • Deliver ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) compliance process conformance for incident, problem and change management

  • Ensure effective implementation of data center safety, security and customer support policy and procedures.

  • Oversee the security operations onsite, including processes, manpower and ability to use security software systems.

  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting and ad-hoc repair of mechanical and electrical (M&E) equipment.

  • Co-ordinate and support all internal contractors and vendors activities onsite, including reviewing of Permit-To-Work (PTW) documents, scheduling of resources, enforcement of house rules, adherence to best practices, compliance to safety procedures, etc.

  • Inspection of work done by contractors.

  • Co-ordinate, plan and support all preventive and reactive maintenance activities with little to no disruption to STT GDC’s services.

  • Support implementation of ISO27001 security process framework implementation, ISMS, SSAE18 and OSPAR audits.

  • Provide audit and/or certification support to customers and/or internal stakeholders when necessary.

  • Create accurate and regular reporting to internal stakeholders when necessary (incident reports, health reports, daily reports, etc.).

  • Write and update Standard Operating Procedures and Emergency Operating Procedures for DSCO-related procedures and processes.

  • Provide administrative support in assets inventory and procurement of parts/equipment.

  • Knowledge of copper/fiber deployment and be willing to learn to use tester to perform cabling troubleshooting.

  • Coordinate for network/telco deployments for internal and external customers.

  • Coordinate and supervise the activities of contracted personnel providing services or performing work in the data center.Coordinate the scheduling of activities and provide support for all preventive/contracted/general maintenance, ensuring zero/minimum disruption of building servicesCarry out any other duties as and when assigned by the Team Leads and Management.

  • Generate power,environmental, ad-hoc and customer monthly reports.

Requirements:

  • Possess a minimum Degree in Electrical Engineering /Mechanical Engineering or related fields.

  • Possess 1-3 years of relevant work experience in a 24x7 operations environment (data centers, network operation centers, customer call centers, etc.).

  • Possess general knowledge of M&E and Network Critical Infrastructure.

  • Broad knowledge in DC facilities related systems such as PDUs, UPS, DC Rectifier, Generator, CRACs, Chiller, Fan Wall, DX cooling, fire protections, raised floor systems, cooling containment, etc

  • Understand network structure cabling systems in an IT/data centre environment.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Highly organized with an attention to detail.

  • Ability to work under pressure.

  • Excellent team player with a pro-active learning attitude and keen analytical skills.

  • Be willing to be on 24x7 standby recall to provide extra manpower coverage when necessary.

  • No previous criminal records.

  • A team player with the ability to work and communicate effectively in a fast-pace environment.

Good to have:

  • Possess relevant facilities management and/or data center related certifications, such as ITIL, CDCP, CDCS, CDCE, CDCMP, SFATC, etc.

  • Familiar with certification standards, such as LEED Gold, Uptime Institute Tier III, TIA 942, ISO 20000, ISO 22301, ISO 27001, , etc..

  • Broad knowledge in cloud technology, network, data centre facilities, system applications and related IT systems.
