Job Description

The Process and Automation Engineer is responsible for identifying inefficiencies in business processes and implementing automation solutions that improve workflow, productivity, and cost-effectiveness. They work closely with cross-functional teams to streamline operations, deploy automation tools, and ensure that systems are running smoothly. Their primary goal is to optimize and automate repetitive tasks and complex processes across the organization, with a strong focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Process Optimization:

  • Analyze existing processes and workflows to identify areas of improvement and opportunities for automation.
  • Design and implement automation solutions to increase process efficiency and reduce human error.

Automation Deployment:

  • Develop, configure, and maintain automation scripts, software, and tools such as RPA (Robotic Process Automation) and AI-based systems.
  • Work with IT and business units to integrate automation solutions across platforms.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders from different departments to understand process pain points and develop customized automation strategies.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to teams adopting new automation tools.

Performance Monitoring and Continuous Improvement:

  • Monitor the performance of automated processes, ensuring they operate effectively and efficiently.
  • Gather feedback and assess the impact of automation on business outcomes, continuously improving solutions.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of process improvements and automation projects, including workflows, scripts, and performance metrics.
  • Report regularly to management on project progress, outcomes, and opportunities for further automation.

Process Efficiency Improvement:

  • Percentage of manual processes automated.
  • Reduction in processing time and human intervention for key workflows.
  • Incident resolution time reduction

Error Reduction:

  • Reduction in errors or rework due to process automation.
  • Improved accuracy of automated tasks.

Cost Savings and ROI:

  • Measured financial savings from automation implementation.
  • Return on investment (ROI) for automation projects.

Automation Uptime and Reliability:

  • Uptime percentage of automation tools and processes.
  • Number of issues or outages resolved within SLA.

User Adoption and Satisfaction:

  • Percentage of stakeholders adopting the new automation solutions.
  • Stakeholder satisfaction and feedback on automation implementations.

Top 3-5 Deliverables:

  • Automation Development - Lead the development of automation scripts and tools, focusing on optimizing IT operations and reducing manual intervention.
  • Mentorship and Technical Leadership - Act as a technical mentor to other engineers, providing guidance and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
  • System Integration - Integrate automation solutions with various IT systems, ensuring seamless operation and minimal disruption.
  • Testing and Debugging - Participate in the testing and debugging of automation scripts and tools, ensuring they function correctly and meet the specified requirements.

Hard Skills:

  • Automation Tools - Proficiency with RPA tools (e.g., UiPath, Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere), scripting languages (e.g., Python - preferred, JavaScript), and other process automation tools.
  • Process Mapping - Expertise in mapping and analyzing workflows using tools like Visio, Lucidchart, or other process mapping software.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting - Experience with data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to measure process improvements and automation impact.
  • Integration Knowledge - Familiarity with APIs and systems integration to connect various platforms and automate workflows.
  • Database Management - Basic knowledge of databases, SQL, and data retrieval for process automation purposes.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Certified Automation Professional (CAP) (optional but preferred)
  • RPA Certification from leading RPA platforms (UiPath, Blue Prism, etc.)
  • Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt (for process improvement methodologies)
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) (for managing automation projects)

Hiring Requirements:

  • Education - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience - 3-5 years of experience in process improvement, automation engineering, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills - Proven experience in automation tools, process mapping, and software development/scripting.
  • Certifications - Relevant certifications in process improvement, RPA tools, and project management are highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Methodologies - Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or Agile methodologies for continuous process improvement.
