DescriptionOutsource Access is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented U.S. Tax Assistant Virtual Staff to join our growing team. This role is perfect for someone with a solid understanding of U.S. tax regulations and practices, who can assist in preparing, filing, and managing tax returns, as well as provide clients with support in navigating their tax obligations. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with federal and state tax laws, conducting tax research, and helping clients maximize benefits while minimizing liabilities.
Responsibilities
- Tax Preparation Support: Assist in preparing and filing individual and business tax returns, ensuring accuracy, compliance with relevant tax laws, and timely submissions to avoid penalties.
- Client Communication and Support: Serve as the main point of contact for clients, gathering required information, addressing inquiries, and providing updates on tax processes. Clearly explain tax concepts and laws to clients to help them understand their obligations and benefits.
- Research and Compliance: Conduct research on tax regulations, updates, and compliance issues to stay informed about U.S. tax laws, IRS guidelines, and multi-state compliance requirements. Ensure clients and the organization remain compliant across all relevant jurisdictions.
- Document Management: Organize and maintain client files, tax returns, and related documents in a secure, cloud-based system for easy access and reference. This includes handling forms like W-2s, 1099s, and other relevant tax documents.
- Tax Planning Support: Assist in developing tax strategies aimed at minimizing liabilities and optimizing client tax positions, with a focus on identifying tax benefits and savings opportunities.
- Audit Support: Support clients with documentation and information during tax audits as needed, ensuring that they are prepared and compliant.
- General Administrative Support: Handle scheduling, manage email correspondence, organize files, and prepare summaries or reports as needed.
Requirements - Proven experience as a tax assistant or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of U.S. tax regulations (state and federal tax laws) and IRS e-filing processes.
- Bachelorβs degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiar with tax software (e.g., TurboTax, Drake Tax, QuickBooks).
